Why Is It So Hard?

Why Is It So Hard?

Why is it so hard?
Why is it so hard?
Why is it so hard to believe someone loves you?

Consider the cutter ant
harvesting the jungletops
twice his weight in toxins
hauled home to his queen.

Now consider the pyramids
tuned to an F sharp
carved into blocks with
tools we've never seen.

So why is it so hard?
Why is it so hard?
Why is it so hard to believe someone loves you?

Consider the fractals
swirled into cornfields
speaking in ciphers
ten thousand years old.

Now consider the dinosaurs,
god-sized and lawless,
cut down and buried
by something unknown.

And if all these things are possible
and miracles are commonplace
then why is it impossible
to love what you are?

Why is it so hard?
Why is it so hard?
Why is it so hard to believe someone loves you?

"God-sized and lawless"
Hearing that line is like looking at a piece of truly fine art.

Been trying to figure this out on the piano for the longest time. So hard to figure out.

Sorry about for this myrmecological nitpick Gavin, but all worker ants are female. so the ant would have to be carrying it the leaves back to her queen.

the sole purpose of males in ant colonies is to live, mate with new queens in a nuptial flight and die.

a minor quibble. beautiful song though

I can't find any confirmation on the Mediae's sex being female, but I'm guessing you're correct. I'll tweet at David Attenborough. Thanks for the heads up (and for ruining my album for me).
