This year I decided to shake things up. Instead of a full-body suit --- which really only gets used once a year on Halloween --- I decided to #bless my niece with a Horseface mask that must be used year-round and for formal events. Sure enough, it was the big winner at her seventh birthday party - all the kids took turns looking horrific.

Suit the Snoot
This year we commemorated my niece's 6th birthday with a Triceratops suit...
... and a tribute to years previous.

Year of the Giraffe

Narratives:
Suit the Snoot
This year I became acutely aware that my niece is approaching an age group that goes completely unserviced in regards to animal costuming. If Amazon Search is any indicator, children between the ages of 8 and 14 are expected to go virtually suit-less year-round, or worse, don something awkward and immodest - Sexy Cat, Sexy Bee, Sexy Lobster, etc. Because of this, I have chosen to furnish her with one of the more elaborate costumes for her Suit the Snoot program this year: The Giraffe.
It is my sincere hope that when it comes time for me to hand-knit these things to continue The Program through that 8-14 drought, I will have already purchased for her those animal suits which are too great a challenge for a novice seamster such as myself.

Year of the Tiger

Suit the Snoot
This year's Suit the Snoot program featured a tiger suit. My niece was delighted to model it at her 4-year old birthday party. She was so enthusiastic, in fact, that she did a fanciful jig on the picnic bench! Eventually the authorities had to put her down with blow darts.

Narratives:
Suit the Snoot
My niece has been obsessed with Kung Fu Panda ever since she first laid her beady eyes on it, so for this year's Suit-the-Snoot program I dressed her up like Jack Black:

Year of the Frog

Narratives:
Suit the Snoot
For her second birthday, I wanted to suit my niece in something that would accentuate her amphibious nature (she's quite the swimmer lately), so I went with a webby frog:

Narratives:
Suit the Snoot
This year marks the first installment of my annual Suit-the-Snoot campaign. What is that you ask?
When my portly niece Eva was born, I made her a promise: I grabbed her pumpkin cheeks and pushed my grizzly face into hers and nuzzled, "Darlin, by the power of Greyskull, I will put you in a new animal suit every year until your 18th birthday." She cried for a few minutes, both out of joy and as a response to my sandpaper facial hair. One year later, having been driven to the brink of sanity by overly-constrictive Pampers and copious amounts of Goldfish crackers, she had clearly forgotten my pledge, and so was caught completely underwears by my timely gift.
